About Alcoholism - Alcoholism Information, Research and Treatment

Book Review - 'Alcoholism--Progress in Research and Treatment'

Edited by Peter G. Bourne, MD, and Ruth Fox, MD, it is an awesome book, broad in scope, weighty, noteworthy--possibly a milestone. Since vast ignorance of "the most dangerous of all drugs" still prevails, this newest report on research and treatment is truly important. Space does not permit even listing, let alone commenting on, the 17 chapters, each written by an authority on his or her particular aspect of the illness and its treatment. The contributors present data on such topics as the biochemical effects of alcohol, drinking patterns, and the social impact of alcoholism on the individual, his family, and his job.
