At a Step meeting not long ago, a brand-newcomer in a somewhat euphoric mood was expounding AA philosophies, and likened the state of the new AA to that of a ship at sea, with an ultimate destination that could he determined by choice, between the desirable and the undesirable. A wiser, rather laconic individual at the table agreed with him in principle, and then added one solid suggestion that broke up the meeting. "First, Bill," said he, "you've got to find the ocean."
