Low-bottom 'snobbery

For some time, I've had the impression that there's a dangerous temptation awaiting many AAs. It's a kind of snobbery based on "Boy, how low I sank, how much I drank!" This attitude can be very treacherous to those like me, especially as newcomers, who managed to stop drinking before being hospitalized, being jailed, losing spouses, etc. We can all too easily be tempted to think that we're not really alcoholics, because we haven't had enough external suffering. Fortunately for me, my internal suffering more than qualified me for AA; that suffering was combined with a drinking pattern that was compulsive in quality if not impressive in quantity.
