THINGS WEREN'T quite clear in the following tale, either. A lush who lived in a rural area was doing some quiet drinking at home one day when he discovered that his house was on fire. Phoning the fire department of a nearby town, he explained his plight and asked them to come and put out the blaze. "Okay," said the fire chief. But how do we get to your place?"
