Off-duty Conduct' and 'Sociability

Her military career was enhanced by her ability to tip the glass--until the "requirements" led her to alcoholism

I'M IN THE military, in my last year of twenty years of service. My career has been judged on performance of duty, off-duty conduct, and sociability. "Oil-duty conduct" and "sociability" mean tipping the glass at cocktail parties without appearing to he intoxicated. You use the word "intoxicated" when you attend a cocktail party, but really you're just plain drunk. Through my own initiative, I became a military success and an alcoholic. I accept full responsibility for my success and my alcoholism, but the requirements of the military service did help me reach the point of alcoholism.
