Once Over Lightly

Sense and nonsense on the road to recovery

A CERTAIN SMALL-TOWN AA group held its meetings in the basement of the town hall, directly below the municipal offices, in particular that of the local judge. A newcomer to the group was having his troubles--with the program, his family, his creditors, and just about everything else. Finally, one of the older members made a suggestion: "Tom, why don't you try taking your troubles to the Man Upstairs?"
