Once Over Lightly

Sense and nonsense on the road to recovery

WE HEARD a story the other day about a completely unsophisticated country girl who was on a visit to the big city. On arrival, she phoned a young fellow, a former neighbor who had moved to the big town a few years previously, and he invited her to a nightclub that evening. It was her first experience in any such place. The waiter came to their table, and the young man ordered, "Two martinis, please."
