To the newcomer in AA, it must be rather puzzling to hear the old-timers talk about their faith in AA, the meetings, the Twelve Steps, the Higher Power, the Fellowship, etc. Usually, if the newcomer has been sober a week or so, and has attended only a few meetings, about all he's got is a faint hope that maybe he'll be able to stay on the wagon a little longer than the last time.
