Informality has been the key element of welcome at AA meetings ever since Bill W. and his fellow drunks went on their own. Absence of form has played a large part in convincing newcomers of their instant acceptance, the instant and total belief of the meeting members that the newcomers can make it, can stop drinking and turn their lives around.
