A Measure of Growth

Are we using profanity to fill a vacuum between immaturity and growing up?

MY USE of profanity tells on me. During my drinking days, the further I sank into drunkenness, the nastier became my language. I've witnessed the same phenomenon in others. It seems to me that the more blunt my adjectives became, the more I was consumed with hate and fear.
