I share the shock and resentment in R. B.'s letter (October issue) regarding the 10.7% of AA members who subscribe to the Grapevine and the other 89.3% of the estimated membership who do not. Assuming that many cannot afford more than food, shelter, and clothing, I'm sure there is still a large segment of our Fellowship who can afford more--including a fiver once a year for the Grapevine, which is still the best bargain in anybody's town and approximately the price of a fifth of something or other. My own dogeared copies are part of a growing "reference library" on the basics for good living the AA way. Everybody to their own priorities.
