Try Not to Compare

When our minds open up, every AA story we hear is essentially our own

I DON'T REMEMBER much about the meeting other than hearing someone describe his incredible experiences in jails and hospitals. This horror story provided all the evidence I needed that I didn't belong there in the first place. Not that I had any doubts. On the contrary, I knew it wasn't for me before I'd even walked in the door. It had been "Go to AA or else." So I heard only what I wanted and nothing of what I needed to hear.
