Here Are My Heroes

I HAVE HEROES now, and I would like to speak out for them, because they never speak for themselves. They rarely get invited to conventions; they don't receive standing ovations; they never pull at your heartstrings with a litany of suffering (real or imaginary) overcome. They don't, in effect, tell you how cruel "earth people" are or how nobly they themselves have withstood the slings and arrows of a malevolent world, where they are always the innocent victims. They are never so bold as to tell you that their God will provide for your every little need. They are seldom articulate and never think themselves smart, funny, or spiritual. But they are my heroes.
