AROUND THE TABLES, acceptance of our own alcoholism is sometimes talked about as though all it required was accurate clinical or experimental observation. From countless newcomers, I hear stories replete with devastating evidence of their alcoholism. Yet, after a while, some go out and try to drink "once again" in a manner that obviously has been foreign to them from the start.
