Second obsession

I woke up to the AA program when I finally admitted and accepted an obsessive-compulsive defect of character. I had gotten sober my way in the beginning. I attended lots of meetings, became involved, helped with coffee and ashtrays, as newcomers are asked to do. But I never became totally honest with others. I remained alone and superficial with most. During meetings, I listened. But deep in my mind and soul, I was obsessed with a longing to comfort my unfulfilled self.
