Watching women newcomers change their minds as they grow in the program

AFTER I HAD been in the program of Alcoholics Anonymous for about five years, one of my early sponsors, sober many more years, said to me, "Baby, you've come a long way." I wondered what she meant. I had a few extra material possessions, but no great personality change seemed to have taken place.
