INCIDENTALLY, THAT FELLOW in the Mercedes-Benz was a Texas oilman, and one day he picked up a hitchhiker. After they'd gone a few miles, the passenger noticed a pair of thick-lensed eyeglasses on the seat between them. Being the nervous type, he asked, "Don't you need your glasses for driving?"
