SOME KIDS are pretty sharp, though, such as the child who asked his father, "How come a glass of soda pop will spoil my dinner, but a highball gives you an appetite?". . .
And on the same subject of predinner drinks, E. D. of Maryland wrote in about a recovered alcoholic who was asked by an unknowing hostess if he would care for a martini. "No thanks," he replied. "I have an important business meeting next month."
