Some things to hang on to while we're still hanging on

I USE A LOT of gimmicks for staying sober. My first was a table. We used this table to eat, to drink (coffee by the gallon), and to sit and talk with one another. I was told that as soon as I got off work I should clean up and sit at this table and just watch the passing parade and listen. At least ten times a day, I had to be told to sit down, shut up, and listen. I spent most of my free time around that table for six and a half months.
