RECENTLY, I SAW these words by Rostand inscribed in French on a heart-shaped pendant: "I love you more than yesterday, less than tomorrow." They may be appropriate as a romantic message. They may represent poetic beauty. They also point up a fallacy that influences the lives of most of us.
