Once Over Lightly

Sense and nonsense on the road to recovery

EVERYONE KNOWS of the claim that things in Texas are bigger and better. This seemed to be borne out when a tourist ordered a drink in a Texas bar and was served a water glass full of whiskey. When he exclaimed over the quantity, the bartender bragged, "We do everything big here in Texas, son." Later on, the man ordered a beer and was served a half-gallon jumbo, and when he asked for some pretzels, was given a grocery sack full. Each time, the explanation was: "Everything in Texas is bigger and better, friend."
