Supersober early risers
Who is the most sober person? "The one who got up earliest this morning"? I'm highly opinionated about certain statements made smugly behind the podium or across the table from me. And I think that one is asinine. Of course, opinions can be changed, and I may think differently tomorrow. The other evening, a newcomer remarked that he thought years of sane living made a person more sober. I agreed, and the next time I heard "I've been sober today, but the one who got up earliest this morning has more sobriety than me," said by a twenty-three-year veteran, it concerned me. Could he really believe that?
