Last year, I flew to South Africa to play in a golf tournament. On the plane from Rio de Janeiro to Johannesburg, I started hunting for my address book to find the telephone number of a Johannesburg AA friend I met four years ago at a meeting in Sao Paulo. Being about as organized as most AAs, I couldn't find the number. Next day, I took another flight from Johannesburg to the small and pretty city of Bloemfontein. No sooner had we taken off than I heard my name called by someone in the back of the plane. You guessed it. It was my South African friend, Roly, on his way to Bloemfontein for just one day. On our arrival, he put me in touch with the local AA group, where I attended several unforgettable meetings and made a lot of new friends. In fact, I was in warm AA company most of the time for the rest of my stay.
