We've Had a Slip!
In the article "Pot" in the May issue of the Grapevine, a typographical error on page 31 resulted in a statement completely opposite to the writer's intent and experience. In her manuscript, the author had written, ". . .and I knew several nonalcoholics who had used it [marijuana] for a dozen or more years with absolutely no ill effects, so I felt safe in its occasional use." The printer unfortunately omitted the prefix "non," resulting in the erroneous statement that alcoholics of the writer's acquaintance had used pot for several years with no harm. The omission slipped by our proofreader and other members of the editorial staff. The Grapevine regrets this mistake and offers apologies to the writer (Anonymous, Illinois) and to readers who were rightly disturbed by the implication of the sentence as it was incorrectly printed.
