There are "pills," and then there is medication

AS A PSYCHIATRIST in AA, I'm running up against a persistent problem about medications and AAs. For instance, one local AA sponsor told a schizophrenic and alcoholic patient to stop taking the medications I gave her, and the patient ended up nearly dead after a suicide attempt. Another well-meaning member told an AA who also has epilepsy to stop his pills (not even asking what he was taking them for!), and he ended up in a serious accident from a seizure. There are many more examples like this, just from my own practice.
