The March GV hit home. "Slippers" have taught me all of the softer, easier ways that don't work and that I don't have to try myself in trying to practice the Twelve Steps of recovery. Without the experience of slippers in sharing at AA meetings, I believe that I surely would have joined them myself, and that would be fatal in my case, since I only have this one recovery left in my life in sobriety. You see, I was in the act of committing suicide when my sponsor got in touch with me at age fifty-one, over twelve years ago.
