When egoism becomes the motivation for hyperactivity in AA, it's time to take an inventory

BETWEEN THE fifth and sixth years of my sobriety, I stopped being a gadfly in AA, and my life settled into a measured pace. It had taken hard work to achieve this balance. One of the more glaring aspects of my character had always been the tendency to go to excess; alcoholism itself was the major example.
