When I Was Truly Ready

With growth comes opportunity, and the impossible becomes possible

THE YEAR of my own "Armageddon," my moment of truth, was 1971. I hit bottom, and I hit hard. I was physically sick, emotionally and spiritually bankrupt, debt-ridden, jobless, and riddled with fear. I was forty-six, a woman alone, recently discharged from a local hospital where I had been treated for alcoholism (for the second time in a few weeks).
