THIS MAY NOT apply to dogs, but research at Georgetown University shows that when human cells were grown in a test tube and adapted to alcohol, they "convulsed" upon withdrawal of the alcohol. Moreover, once the cells had become addicted, but had then gone without alcohol for some time, "drinking" triggered the old dependence on it. This, the report stated, helps to explain why a "reformed" alcoholic can never indulge in social drinking. Once again, science discovers something AA has been saying for thirty years.
