As It Says in the Preamble. . .

I HAVE HEARD speakers take AA's Twelve Steps and remodel them neatly into the twelve Beatitudes. Two nights ago, at a meeting, a speaker declared that God was his sponsor, and he flicked quotations out of the Christian Bible without making any reference to the Big Book or "Twelve and Twelve." I once attended a meeting that made me feel as though I were attending a recruiting drive for a nunnery. I have also witnessed the tremendous pressure put upon AA for the official adoption of the St. Francis prayer.
