Sense and nonsense on the road to recovery

JUST A SLIGHT BIT of confusion there, such as took place in a small Midwestern town early one morning when the police found a battered, bloodied, but well-dressed drunk lying in the middle of the street. After rushing him to the hospital, they questioned him about who had beaten him up, but the fellow denied being assaulted and stated that the last thing he remembered was being thrown out of a bar.
