I felt I had to rush a letter off in response to M. Z., who wrote about a need for nonsmoking AA groups (September Grapevine). I share her problem of severe allergy to smoke. Many AAs do not feel this is a legitimate complaint, but I believe they should realize that for some people exposure to smoke is life-threatening or, as in my case, because my allergy affects the nervous system, sobriety-threatening!
