No More Sad Tales

A collection of nuts taught him the joy of laughter

WHEN I FIRST discovered AA, it seemed to be a collection of nuts. I walked into the basement room of a church, damp and dark, somewhat like a catacomb, almost tomblike--and found a room full of laughing, happy people. Not only was laughter strange to me, but the things they laughed about made me sure I had wandered into a reunion of asylum graduates.
