Coping with depression

Because of the miracle that happened to me in AA, I am celebrating my second birthday this month. Two months before joining AA, I made an attempt at suicide. I had been undergoing therapy for over a year for chronic depression and other neuroses. Of course, because of my alcoholism I could not be helped. I had been saving my antidepressant and sleeping pills. I started drinking, took over forty pills, and lay down to await death. The terror I felt when I came to, tied down and having my stomach and lungs pumped out, was indescribable.
