I like drunkalogs. I've had eight years of sobriety, and my need to identify myself as an alcoholic is as strong as ever. I find myself silently saying over and over during a pitch, "Yes, I did that, too. I felt just like that." I feel again the guilt and shame of remembering what I did the night before. I feel again the pain of a hangover. Then I return to the present, and I remember who and what I am--an ex-drunk grateful to be living one day at a time in AA.
