Sense and nonsense on the road to recovery

THE CAB DRIVER in this story needed assistance, too. He had been called to a tavern where the proprietor had three drunks left on his hands at closing time. Putting them in the back seat of the cab, the tavern owner handed the driver ten dollars and said, "Drop the guy on the left at 530 Fairfax, the one in the middle at 782 Fifth Street, and the fellow on the right at 1133 Adams Avenue." The taxi left but was back again shortly afterward.
