I DIDN'T NOTICE anything that unusual about the fellow when he first came in and sat down. He was a young man, probably in his early thirties, with long brown hair and a heavy beard with tufted curls in it. He seemed to have a pretty good case of the shakes, and I knew how he felt. I had a vague feeling that possibly I'd seen him before. Out here in the countryside, everyone starts looking familiar after a while.
