'Newcomer' and old-timer agree

A letter in the May issue asked, "Are we less friendly?" My answer would be yes. I have been in AA two and a half years, and I wholeheartedly agree with B. F., Bronx, N.Y., that there is less reaching out to the newcomers, not much "friendliness and sense of caring," "cliques among those who are established in groups, at the expense of others," and "just plain indifference of people toward other people." Are new people "turned off by the lack of outreach and supportiveness"? Yes.
