Consider the stained-glass window: All its colors vanish in the dark, as the reality of our person disappears in a fog of booze, sometimes for years. But as we gain and maintain a measure of sobriety, all the colors of what and who we are appear and reappear, as though suddenly the sun struck the window of our souls.
