More Blessed to Give

FOR DECADES, I failed to grasp the true meaning of the Biblical quotation "It is more blessed to give than to receive." I always heard it at Yuletide and considered it a bit of propaganda intended to ease the disappointment of a child who got less for Christmas than he had expected.
