Something's Wrong With Elaine

True acceptance of our disease sometimes comes only after we've been sober awhile

ELAINE IS a patient of mine whose recovery was a source of great pride and gratification for me. She was an executive's wife, a woman in her mid-fifties, whose life had become totally unmanageable due to alcohol. I had guided Elaine through a rehabilitation program, and had urged her into AA.
