Easy Does It

But let's not use the slogan as an excuse to avoid responsibilities

DURING MY early days in the AA program, I was fascinated by "Easy Does It." It intrigued me to the point where I not only tried to practice the slogan but said it to my wife quite frequently. One day, she said, "I hear you say the words, but I think my name is Easy." At this stage of my experience in AA, I thought "Easy Does It" meant that I could avoid meeting certain responsibilities when it suited my needs.
