Gratitude for a Life
The death of a friend taught this AA
AFTER I BEGAN to recover in AA, thoughts of death seldom came to me. I call this a bonus, for I had been preoccupied by morbid thoughts while drinking. Still, I felt uncomfortable, even as the days of my sobriety continued, when a friend or a relative died. I know now that I feared my own ultimate death and felt anger when those I cared for died. Without doubt, I ran from the whole subject or kept it in a mental box so I could ignore it.
