I came into AA in 1950, but after about ten years, I went out and got drunk. Then came three years of battle that I never want to go through again. Once, while I was in a workhouse, I got sent to help a veterinarian. I was sick and shaking, and had to hold down the pigs while he gave them their shots. The vet looked at me and said, "Who should I give the shot to--you or the pig?" And that was one of the better days.
