Who's special?

M. C.'s letter "What Age Gap?" in the October Grapevine struck a warm chord in my heart. I was twenty-nine when I first came to AA, in 1952. Members in that age bracket were quite rare. Somehow, it never occurred to me to discriminate on any basis--age, gender, or race. To paraphrase: An AA member is an AA member is an AA member. I am very grateful that I did not have to surmount a hurdle like that. It is tough enough for any of us to get that good start in AA.
