Is the Disease Concept a Cop-out?

IN 1956, the American Medical Association announced that alcoholism was a disease. Since then, insurance companies, hospitals, and law-enforcement agencies across the country have taken on new attitudes and perspectives in dealing with the treatment of alcoholics.
