My Three First Drinks

Twice it happened by accident, but the third time was different

WHEN I FIRST came into AA, the old-timers, my sponsor, and everyone else drummed into my head that never again must alcohol pass my lips. Beware, they said, even of such things as cough medicine or other remedies. Read the labels to make sure there is no alcohol in the medicine--because, they added, once alcohol in any form is taken you'll be off and running on another drunk. They scared me to death.
