The Anecdote Bin
NOT SO HAPPY was the barfly, reported by the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, who looked into his glass, fixed the bartender with a baleful glare, and announced, "This drink is too small to leave the bottle." The clipping was sent in by R. R. R., Bellevue, Wash., who enclosed another nifty concerning Seattle's Edgewater Inn, billed as the world's only hotel built entirely over water. At 3:00 AM, the story goes, a slightly swizzled guest approached the night auditor and asked if he could get a sandwich. No, not at this time of night, he was told. "Well, how about a candy bar?"
