Misplaced Sympathy

Our company has started an employee assistance program, in which I have been named representative. Last week, a fellow employee came to me with a problem. His wife and family left him because of his drinking; he's in debt; and it's beginning to affect his job. After hearing him out, I told him I, too, had an alcohol problem, and had found a way to recovery through the AA program.
