Ego Deflation

I CAME BY my sponsor more by good luck than by good management. My first reaction to him was one of mistrust and distaste. He had been sober for over fifteen years; I was still drinking. He was a smiling, well-liked, happy human being--it showed all over him--and I was an unhappy, unpopular, unsmiling, and miserable human being. Also, I hated anyone who could smile or like himself.
